The Alpha Tau Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated was founded on June 30, 1934 on the campus of Southern University and A&M College in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. This chapter was founded by seven young ambitious ladies who saw the need for an organization to serve the needs of the campus and surrounding area. The charter members are:
